Granite State Comic Con is a wonderful little nerd fest run by the fine guys at Double Midnight Comics. In prior years one of the chief complaints regarding the convention was that after a brief tour of the dealer room and artists galleries you were left with nothing to do. I approached them a few months back to assist them in adding a board gaming element to their convention via my organization Play Date NH; this went well. In addition to schlepping a jeep load of cardboard to the con I also designed organized and executed the Granite Con-quest experiential game. The mission of the quest was to engage attendees in the different key activities of the convention. I conceived of multiple quests that attendees could accomplish, scavenger hunt style, and present their completed quest log to the Double Midnight boys to receive a secret prize. It was encouraging to see con attendees racing around the show to track down and challenge The Riddler a nudge them into areas of the convention that they might normally not have interacted with. ~1000 participants, ~20 winners June 2012
